Variant Interpretation at ACMG

QIAGEN’s bioinformatics team is excited to be present at the annual meeting of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG), taking place in Charlotte, NC, April 10-14. ACMG has been instrumental in the rapid adoption of genomics throughout the medical genetics community, and this meeting offers a look at how genomics is making a difference in clinical labs.

We’re interested in many of the conference events, starting with the interactive presidential session. ACMG President Louanne Hudgins will give a talk entitled “Harnessing the Power of Us All,” followed by presentations about how clinicians and insurers use evidence-based guidelines and updates on ClinGen and the Newborn Screening Translational Research Network. Another session will focus on high-quality, consistent variant interpretation, a topic that really resonates with our team. We’re eager to hear updates from ClinVar, the Canadian Open Genetics Repository, and ACMG/AMP variant classification guidelines. This year’s ACMG meeting will also have some TED-style talks, including Counsyl’s Kaylene Ready speaking about models of genetic counseling and Columbia’s Wendy Chung giving a talk on the future of genomic medicine.

When we’re not attending these great talks, the QIAGEN team will be holding down the fort at booth 1601 in the ACMG exhibit hall. Please stop by — we’d love to talk to you about how our bioinformatics tools can streamline your variant interpretation workflows and deliver more robust, reproducible results.
