Position Description

This is an exciting, field-based, customer-facing position in QIAGEN’s clinical bioinformatics Field Application Science team. Working with an account manager, you will interact with a wide range of clinical testing labs to discuss, present, and demonstrate how QIAGEN Clinical Insight (QCI) software and services provide the most accurate and scalable genetic variant interpretation available. If needed, you will also present and demonstrate QIAGEN’s NGS secondary analysis software for variant calling. As part of the pre-sales process, you will periodically be required to analyze customer NGS data and/or genetic test variant data and present results back to the prospective customer. Additionally, you will be responsible for training customers on the various features and how the application works overall. As needed, you may be called on to manage the onboarding process.

This role requires a high degree of organizational skills to manage various tasks for different account managers and customers in your territory. All these customer interactions will be a mix of on-site visits and web-based meetings.

This is a full-time, home office position. Additional activities will likely include tracking of customer requests, working with existing customers to resolve problems, requirement gathering and mock-up of new features, working across teams on feature implementation, beta testing management, and customer communication reach out.

Responsibilities:

– Deliver pre-sales product demonstrations and trainings to clinical scientists and lab directors to showcase the value and effectiveness of clinical software applications.

– Prepare variant interpretation and clinical report generation from example customer VCF data using QCI-Interpret, QCI-Interpret One, or QCI-Translational applications.

– Occasional analyze NGS example sequence data starting from FASTQ and using CLC Workbench to create a VCF.

– Project manage customer onboarding from product evaluation through adoption.

– Gather and track customer feedback at all stages of the relationship.

– Help troubleshoot customer data or implementation problems.

– Engage in scientific discussions with customers, cultivate relationships and ensure customer success.

– Work with customers and product managers to refine requirements and provide guidance on implementation of new features.

Position Requirements

– Experience with variant interpretation and curation in a clinical context

– Prior experience in clinical genetic molecular biology

– Somatic experience preferred.

– Experience with hands-on clinical NGS data analysis, highly desired

– Experience with precision medicine, clinical reporting, and/or companion diagnostics

– Involvement working with lab directors and variant scientists

– Fluency and clear spoken English is a must

– Have exceptional written, presentation, and verbal skills, including strong public speaking experience.

– Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills

– Evidence of strong analytical and problem-solving skills

– Ability to multitask a variety of assignments and proven ability to meet strict deadlines.

Personal Requirements

– Proactive, self-starter with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks in a result-orientated commercial environment.

– Excellent project and network management skills and strong organizational skills

– This is a home-office, field-based role where candidates should be prepared to travel as much as 20%; travel is variable and depends on candidate’s home location (ideally based in the East Coast).

– Must be able to stay focused on work, free of distractions, in a home office environment.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,000 – $120,000. Compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, skills, geographic location, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, we offer a total compensation package that includes annual performance bonus and generous benefits.
